Funds you raise help patients overcome financial barriers to transplant, grow and diversify the Be The Match Registry® to provide matching blood stem cell matches for more patients, and fund life-saving research to improve transplant outcomes, reduce complications and treat more diseases. Adding personal touches to your fundraising page, such as a photo or story, helps your financial contributors connect with your mission. Make sure to share your personal story explaining why you’re passionate about raising funds for Be The Match.
Click on the “Your Page” icon in the black ribbon in the top left corner. Every place you see the edit icon, you may add content.
- Scroll down to the “My Story” section where you can add:
- Your “Why” to our templated information
- A Be The Match video
- You could even add a live stream!
- Customize your page URL under “Settings”. You can add your own text instead of the 4-digit number you see.
Donate to your own fundraiser.
Kickstart the momentum by donating to your goal. It’ll show your commitment and help make you feel more comfortable asking others to donate since you’ve already contributed.

The more you share, the more money you raise and the more lives you save! Follow these quick tips to get the word out.
- Text close friends and family first.
Get a few donations in before you share your fundraising page more widely. - Share, share, share on social media!
Ask your network to share your fundraising page. You never know who may have a personal connection to your cause. Add impact statements to let your network know the impact of their donation:
$25 helps cover the cost of one patient’s clinic co-pay. |
$50 helps cover the cost of 2 caregiver meals. |
$120 can add one new potential life-saving donor to the Be The Match Registry® (that’s 12 people giving just $10). |
$250 helps cover the cost of 10 prescription co-pays. |

Some of your most generous contributors may not be on social media. - Follow up with reminders.
People are busy. On average it takes 3–5 nudges to get someone to take action. - Share Your Success.
Post updates on how your fundraiser is going. Thank each of your supporters—tagging them on social media—and let them know the impact they made.
Remember: Don’t be afraid to ask! You’re not asking for you, you’re asking on behalf of the many patients who need our help. You’re saving lives! Thank you for being a champion for patients.

And $300 provides tools and support for a research scientist to pursue new discoveries to prevent and treat post-transplant complications.
